In recent years, the application of contemporary linguistics achievements, especially of the pragmatic approach, has proved itself particularly fruitful in the study of the enunciative and narrative structure of medieval literary works. In the present paper we suggest implementing that approach, which takes into account the discursive context, or co-text, as well as the situational context within which the speech act occurs, in the study of the relative clause in Old French. With this aim, we shall try to outline first the main stages in the evolution of the context concept in linguistics, then to determine the relevant elements in the context of the...

We live in a period which is inseparably linked to new forms of electronic communication. The Internet provides its users with new forms of communication including messaging, discussions, and chats. It appears that the French language used in email messages, forums, blogs and chat sessions differs from the standard written language. The computer has become a tool, a sort of mediator, which indirectly modifies the CMC discourse. The new 'genre' is commonly referred to as "computer-mediated communication" (CMC) in English linguistics, whereas French linguistics uses different terms including: "oral-written hybrid forms" (ANIS, 1998, 1999, 2001), "Cyberl@ngue"...

I composti trinominali del tipo relazione governo-sindacati in italiano (dati da corpus e teoria a confronto)Italian

Trinominal compounds of the type “relazione governo-sindacati“ in Italian (corpus data vs. theory)

Jan RADIMSKÝ

Écho des études romanes 2014, 10(1):35-50 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2014.003

Italian has two different types of compounds that may be described as trinominal: (a) the type exemplified as direzione ufficio acquisti and the type exemplified as relazione governo-sindacati. In both cases, the N2-N3 component modifies the head noun (N1), but the difference lies in the fact that in the former type, the relation between N2 and N3 is subordinate, while it is coordinate in the latter type. The aim of this paper is to collect representative data concerning the latter type of compounds and to analyze their internal structure. Our analysis is based on the hypothesis that the internal structure of these compounds is governed by the head...

Écho des études romanes 2014, 10(1):51-66 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2014.004

The aim of this paper is to show how the semantic relations (synonymy and polysemy) are performed in professional texts (administrative - legal). Firstly, we will try to demonstrate the suitability of the distinction between potential components and the constant components of professional vocabulary to subsequently reveal different skills of the dichotomic constituents presented at the time of establishing the semantic relationships in legal texts of various degrees of speciality. In the final part of this article, given the plurality and diversity of legal systems between Spanish speaking countries and the Czech Republic, we study this problem through...

Los trovadores e Hispania: ¿una teoría de influencia todavía posible?Spanish

The troubadours and Hispania: still possible theory of influence?

Josef PROKOP

Écho des études romanes 2014, 10(1):67-76 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2014.005

For several centuries scholars have kept considering various theories about the origin of the Occitan troubadours' songs. Our study attempts to reflect the reasons that stand behind the disdain towards one of them - the theory of the influence coming from the Hispanic al-Andalus. The study tries to find answers to counter the usual arguments of critics of this theory. It points out the difficult position of academic scholars who are obliged to cover extended territory of two literary contexts - the Romanic and the Hispano-Arabic. In conclusion, the study attempts to restate the most obvious arguments supporting the theory that are very often neglected...

Several copies of eight chapbooks attributed to Juan de Cánova (about 1552-1558) are bound in a volume of the Biblioteca Comunale Augusta, Perugia, catalogued under the shelfmark [I L 1402]. In this paper we edit and contextualize fourteen poems printed in one of these chapbooks. Among all these compositions, the seven following are only known through this printed book: Señor Dios que me hiciste; Creo al tu poder divino; Venid, pecadores; Preguntaba la doncella; No sé si oís; Oh glorias al padre; Arrojé mi corazón.

Écho des études romanes 2014, 10(1):101-120 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2014.007

Our study focuses on the private and literary French writings of Princess Alexandrine of Dietrichstein, born Schouvaloff (1775-1847). We firstly mention different approaches to the exploitation of manuscripts by historians and literati and then we briefly describe the life and the particular character of the writings and reading of this francophone noblewoman of Russian origin who from 1797, thanks to her wedding, had lived in the German-speaking environment of the Austrian Empire and who, after her divorce in 1804, stayed in Baden near Vienna, in Switzerland or in Italy. We will try to show to which extent the theme of her four unpublished stories...
