Écho des études romanes 2008, 4(1):5-18 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2008.001

The concept of prototype is very operational for the textual analysis of discourse - the concrete occurrences of textual units can be successfully described in reference to the prototypical scheme of a textual sequence even if the degree of typicality of the unit being described is quite low. The syntactic structures of the short passage of the Romance of the Rose by Jean de Meun we studied in this paper have a specific and interesting function in argumentation, their pragmatic role appear clearly when this structures are analyzed as a part of a textual sequence. Our analysis pointed out that the argumentative function of connectors is inseparable...

Particularités lexicales du français au BurundiFrench

Lexical particularities of the French in Burundi

Jaromír KADLEC

Écho des études romanes 2008, 4(1):19-27 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2008.002

The position of French in Burundi and other former Belgian colonies in Africa is less favourable and more vulnerable than in the other African French-speaking countries situated more in the North. Burundi, Rwanda and Congo undergo a transition in the field of language policy. Burundi has awarded an official status to the national language and has extended the field of its utilisation, which has had an impact on the local French vocabulary. The French in Burundi contains abundant loan words from Kirundi and Swahili as well as many calques from the national language of Burundi. Many words have been borrowed from English. The derivation and the composition...

Joanna JERECZEK-LIPIÑSKA

Écho des études romanes 2008, 4(1):29-42 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2008.003

The proximity is not a new term in the field of journalism. But it does not have the same value completely any more. This study tried to analyze the new meaning of this concept like these different places from inscription on the blogs from the political journalists. This research tries to show at which point, by which linguistic means and at the price of which transformations and adaptations of the politico-media speech, the blog is media of proximity.

Il neopurismo e la politica linguistica del fascismoItalian

Neo-purism and the language policy of fascism

Nicola CARDIA

Écho des études romanes 2008, 4(1):43-54 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2008.004

We note during fascism in Italy one important historic phase of the linguistic issue. This time it is linked with the revival of puristic trends, connected with the introduction of prescriptive language policy. It was puristically oriented (the so-called « state purism ») against dialects and against the national language minorities in Italy, but particularly against the presence of foreign-language elements. In this regard, we put stress particularly on the fact that those who in a different measure took part in these puristic regulatory interventions, were the most prominent linguists of those days, e.g. B. Migliorini, A. Schiaffini, G....

Varietà diafasiche della lingua: i linguaggi settoriali nell’italiano contemporaneoItalian

Diaphasic varieties of language: sectorial languages in contemporary Italian

Zora JACOVÁ

Écho des études romanes 2008, 4(1):55-64 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2008.005

One of the main impulses why we decided to focus our attention on a diaphasic variety of Italian language, which is formed by technical styles, is their contemporaneous spread and dissemination. Still more and more Italian linguists who have been studying this phenomenon with ever more increasing interest for several decades are attracted by this phenomenon. On the other hand, it is necessary to stress that a complex dynamics of technical styles is inseparably connected with a specific development the Italian language is coming through. In our considerations we come out out of the gradually changing optics and a completely new methodological approach....

Le jeu de l’équivoque dans Frédéric de Sicile de Catherine BernardFrench

The play of equivocation in Catherine Bernard's Frédéric de Sicile

Monika KULESZA

Écho des études romanes 2008, 4(1):65-75 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2008.006

The first juvenile novel by C. Bernard Frédéric de Sicile (1680) is very much different from her later works. The novel is characterised by prevailing baroque style of the beginning of 17th century with less classicistic features. The main theme depicts the process of awakening and a change of identity; from his birth Frédéric must pretend to be a boy instead of a girl, as only a male child can inherit the throne of Sicily. The heroine, by continuous pretending, looses, at times, a track of who she really is. It is love that forces the disguised girl to make a choice between affection and the duty to dynasty and obedience to her father's will....

La réception du théâtre de Jean Giraudoux en Tchécoslovaquie dans l’entre-deux-guerresFrench

The reception of the theatrical works of Jean Giraudoux in Czechoslovakia between the two world wars

Marie VO®DOVÁ

Écho des études romanes 2008, 4(1):77-85 | DOI: 10.32725/eer.2008.007

The paper deals with the reception of plays Siegfried, Amphitryon 38, Intermezzo and La guerre de Troie n'aura pas lieu, written by the French author Jean Giraudoux, in Czechoslovakia in the period between the two wars. Both the public and the reviewers paid close attention to Giraudoux's plays staged in the period of the First Republic. Each author's play of this period was staged within one year at the latest by the National Theatre in Prague and, in two cases, also by the Regional Theatre in Brno and the Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava. The critical responses collected from the contemporary press confirm the efforts...
