Rap and verbal neology : a contrastive study of English linguistic assimilation in Polish, Czech, and French


This study provides a contrastive analysis of English verb borrowings in a trilingual rap corpus (French, Polish, and Czech). Based on 300 texts selected from the most-streamed 2024 albums in France, Poland, and Czechia, the research highlights the morphological, phonetic, syntactic, and semantic processes involved in the adaptation of English verbs. The findings reveal language-specific assimilation strategies that reflect patterns of linguistic hybridization influenced by the global impact of anglophone hip-hop culture.
